The book looks like it focuses on those core topics that are so often misunderstood yet shared in Amateur Radio circles.

Thank you very much for sharing this!

Hi Everybody,

Here is a recap of the W6EK Team effort for the September VHF Contest.  Our station was located at the Duncan Peak Lookout on Little Bald Mountain at the end of Foresthill Road.  At 7,200 ft elevation we could see the coastal range and vast areas of the Sacramento and San Jaoquin Valleys.  We logged contacts as far away as Redding, Cuppertino, Merced, Reno, and Lake Topaz.  A special note, the Cuppertino contact was on 446.000!!

Re: Antenna Analyzer

Ken Crouse

If anyone is interested in purchasing a RigExpert analyzer, I have a strong recommendation for RigExpertUSA.com which is PNC Engineering in Carmichael (as opposed to one of the main typically used ham radio equipment vendors). Michael N6MQL is the main guy there and is great to work with - plus he’s local to the greater Sacramento region which isn’t an option we often have. Met with him a couple of times with questions and to pick up my analyzer to save shipping. He’s also a key member of the W6SFM club in Carmichael and the instructor for the CW class several of the W6EK members have taken. Very easy to reach via the number posted on their website or the website’s Contact page. He’ll gladly review the different models so you are getting the right one for your needs and go over pricing. With mine he also added a few things at no extra cost (connectors, case, etc.)

One Day Ham Class - Benicia #elmer

Dennis - WU6X

Edited

Once again the Benicia Amateur Radio Club and its volunteers will be conducting another One-Day Ham Radio Class. This class is intended for those wishing to get a Tech Ham license, or existing Techs wishing to upgrade to General.

Many of us know people that we’d love to see get into our exciting hobby but have faced opposition because they didn’t have time to study. As we know, many people typically require one to two months to prepare to pass their test.

We have the answer. Earn a license or upgrade in One Day!

Historically over 90% of attendees pass the on-site FCC licensing exam. Our exams are administered by federally accredited Volunteer Examiners (VEs) immediately at the conclusion of the class. Our proven class pass rate easily exceeds home study results.

We invite all persons interested in obtaining a Ham license - or Techs wishing to upgrade - to enroll in this One-Day class. We have over 30 Facilitators and Accredited VEs to help deliver this successful class.

One-Day Ham Radio Class

When:              October 5, 2019, 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM

Where:           Benicia Senior Center, 1201 East 2nd Street, Benicia, CA 94510 (map)

Cost:              $35. Includes all study material, venue, day-long refreshments, handouts, freebies and the federally required exam fee. All instructors, facilitators and VEs are volunteers.

Access:         Our facility has full handicap access.

Info/Signup: Online at www.BeniciaARC.com. Class size is limited and it always fills up, so register promptly.

Questions:   hamradioclass@... or Ham Class coordinator Bob Fentress (707) 319-9495

You don't need to submit a log to give the contesting stations credit.

Hope to work you this weekend or stop by Duncan Peak Fire Lookout. Hello SFARC,

This weekend is the ARRL September VHF Contest.  It is a fun low key contest that anyone with a 2m/440 radio can participate in.

Brian and I have Clyde's permission to use the W6EK callsign for the contest.  We also have permission from the Forest Service to operate at the Duncan Peak Lookout!!  This promises to be an awesome location with line of sight to the coastal range, north towards Redding, and south towards Stockton.  From here, you can hit our repeater with an HT using 1 watt.

Everyone is welcome to join us.  Duncan Peak Lookout is only 45 minutes from Auburn at the end of Foresthill Road.  FREE RV & tent camping is available at the Robinson Flat Campground a very short distance away.  Come for a few hours or the whole week.

We plan to run Multi-Operator Limited.  We will have at least two radios going and four antennas up:  2m 12 element Yagi, 2m/440 X50 vertical, 2m J-Pole, 6m Inverted V.

If you plan on coming, we'll save you a seat.
